<![CDATA[2015-Mercedes-Benz-SLK-1_600 2015 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK: When the Mercedes-Benz SLK coupe/roadster initially arrived in the U.S. market in January 1997; it unveiled the first automatic retractable hardtop in its market segment. For 2015, the third-generation SLK continues to be known for its distinctive retractable hardtop that transforms itself from a quiet, weather-tight coupe to a topless roadster (or back) in 20 seconds. Trim-levels include SLK250, SLK350 and SLK55 AMG. Although the car has 21st century styling, there are design cues reminiscent of the classic 190SL of the 1950s. The SLK250 continues with the direct-injection 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 201 horsepower. Stepping-up to the SLK350 model gains a 3.5L V-8 engine with 302-hp, as well as a standard ECO Start/Stop system and 18-inch five-spoke wheels. The top-tier SLK includes the Start/Stop technology, 18-inch AMG five-spoke rims, and packs a 5.5L V-8 that pumps out 415-hp with 398- lb. ft. of torque to the rear-wheels. Two transmissions are available, the six-speed manual gearbox and the seven-speed automatic. While the standard roof panel is made of body-color polycarbonate plastic, an optional Panorama Roof features a tinted see-through panel, available with MAGIC SKY CONTROL, in which the tinting of the transparent glass panel can be controlled by the driver or passenger.
