The bicycles are fast, quiet and maneuverable. The officers that are on bike patrol can see, hear and smell things in the environment that is around them.
The bikes can go where the police cars and motorcycles cannot go, and they can cover a lot of ground.
Most of all the bikes provide environmental benefits. Bike patrols run on human power rather than gas, therefore there are no carbon emissions being put in the atmosphere which are attractive options for green initiatives.
